John Tegg, an Orlando native ready to serve Orange County |
John was born in Orlando, Florida, and attended Killarney Elementary School, Lee Middle School, and Edgewater High School, where he graduated in 1972. Growing up and working in Central Florida has helped John understand the law enforcement needs of Orange County residents and visitors.
In 1975, while a student at Florida Technological University, John began working as an intern in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. His duties included checking pawn shops and writing bonds at the courthouse. He was soon sworn in to the position of deputy sheriff in 1976. John's first assignment as a patrol deputy was spent working rotating shifts on the East and West sides of Orange County. Through hard work and dedication, John moved through the ranks and eventually supervised many different areas of the agency including the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigations, Patrol, Training, Professional Standards, Specialized Patrol and Special Investigations.
